Daily Mail writes story based on fake tweet
by Richard Hurford on 30/06/2010
Oh dear oh dear.
A fake Twitter account, @ceoSteveJobs, reports that the new iPhone 4 is being recalled. And the Daily Mail believes that the CEO of the biggest technology company in the World would choose to announce something like this in a tweet.
What a particularly impressive piece of journalistic research.
The story has now been removed from the DM website, but it remains for ever in syndication sites and search engines.
The moral for us all? It is that what we write on the Internet is there for ever, so we had better be very sure of what we say. Oh, and not to believe everything that we read on Twitter.
