600 tweets a second – 41% pointless babble

Twitter was created in 2006 and has grown rapidly: in 2007 it was averaging 5,000 tweets a day and today Twitter users are sending a staggering 50 million tweets per day.
Fascinating research which has just been published by pearanalytics shows what people are really using Twitter for. The winner is “pointless babble”, which accounts for 40.55% of all tweets.
Richard is the founder and Managing Director of FITM, which he established after identifying the need that small and medium sized companies have for flexible IT management skills. Prior to founding FITM, Richard was IT Director at Jupiter Asset Management and Director of Global IT at Dryden Wealth Management. He has held a variety of project management, development and other technical positions and more recently, he was IT Manager at FIM, an alternative investment manager.
